My name is Manmeet Matthew Singh, a lifelong Richmond resident born here in 2004. My family immigrated from Fiji with a vision to build a better life. Though that journey faced challenges when my mother had to return to Fiji, coming back to the U.S. in 2022 was a turning point for me. I had to figure out how to rebuild my life, and in doing so, I learned not only resilience but also a deeper understanding of the city I call home. Helping others has always been at the core of who I am. My mother taught me that helping each other builds trust and community, and I live by that lesson every day. Service is not just an act—it is a way of life that strengthens bonds and creates lasting unity. Richmond embodies that spirit of unity. From neighborhood events to everyday acts of kindness, the people of this city show resilience and generosity. We stand together in unison, and it is this collective strength that inspires me to serve. Richmond still has room to grow. We can strengthen our climate resilience, make our streets safer, and ensure that every voice is heard. These challenges are opportunities to build a city that reflects our values and prepares for the future. My cause is simple yet profound: to build a Richmond where civic participation thrives, transparency guides our government, and opportunity is shared by all. I want to ensure that neighborhoods flourish and that every resident feels empowered to shape the future of our city. At the heart of my campaign is a belief that leadership is not about personal ambition—it is about service. I am running to serve Richmond, to amplify the concerns of our people, and to craft solutions that honor both our history and our potential.
Manmeet Singh will prioritize public safety by strengthening trust between residents and law enforcement, investing in community-based programs that prevent crime before it happens, and ensuring that every neighborhood feels secure. This means supporting initiatives like improved street lighting, youth engagement programs, and transparent policing practices. Public safety is not just about enforcement—it’s about creating safe spaces where families, workers, and businesses can thrive together.
Manmeet Singh will work to expand affordable housing opportunities by supporting policies that protect long-term residents from displacement, encourage mixed-income developments, and streamline approvals for nonprofit and community-based builders. Affordable housing is not just about lowering costs—it’s about ensuring that families, seniors, and young people can remain in Richmond and thrive. By investing in sustainable housing solutions and strengthening tenant protections, we can build a city where everyone has a stable place to call home.
Manmeet Singh will champion climate resiliency by preparing Richmond to withstand and adapt to environmental challenges. This means investing in green infrastructure like flood-resistant streets and energy-efficient buildings, expanding urban tree cover to reduce heat, and supporting renewable energy initiatives that lower costs and emissions. Climate resiliency is not just about protecting the environment—it’s about safeguarding our health, our homes, and our future. By working with local organizations, schools, and businesses, we can build a city that is sustainable, equitable, and ready for the next generation.
